Montgomery VINE Coverage
Texas no longer uses VINELink as the current county-custody brand. On September 1, 2025, county notification moved to Texas IVSS-Counties. “VINELink inmate check” remains useful search language, but Montgomery users should expect the IVSS name and interface. Participation is not universal. Confirm that Montgomery County appears in the live participating-agency selector before relying on county alerts.
TDCJ prison, parole, and mandatory-supervision notifications use the separate TDCJ IVSS. Choose by custodian. A person held at Montgomery County Jail belongs in the county system if the agency participates. A state prisoner or TDCJ releasee belongs in TDCJ IVSS. Federal and ICE custody use their own locators and notification routes.
Check Montgomery IVSS Records
IVSS-Counties accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking number. Use an agency identifier when possible. A common name can produce several matches, and an incorrect match can lead to alerts about a different person. Compare identifiers and the custody agency before attaching a notification.

Montgomery Release Alert Meaning
No stable archived “Released” card or exact after-release field set was verified. IVSS expressly says that people no longer in custody may not be included. A vanished result cannot confirm release. The useful event is a saved alert reporting a release or custody change. Pair it with the MCSO booking-out record and the relevant court order.

OAG says alerts can include booking, release, court-event change, death, escape, and transfer to TDCJ. Delivery options include text, phone, and email. Availability depends on the participating agency and the live record.
Register Montgomery Release Alerts
Current registration is account and preference based. It is not the old telephone workflow. The registration page asks for email, a password of at least ten characters, a repeated password, and a security question and answer. Users then choose text/SMS, phone, or TTY preferences. Phone, text, and TTY choices include whether messages may arrive from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m.

The final confirmation sequence was not verified without creating an account. Follow the live prompts. The present registration screen does not show a four-digit PIN field.

Confirm Montgomery County Release
An alert is timely evidence, not the originating government record. For Montgomery County Jail, call 936-760-5800, select option 1 for jail and option 5 for inmate information, or email mcsocjr@mctx.org. Request the booking-out sheet through the MCSO records portal. Check the court docket for the order that authorized bond, probation, dismissal, commitment, or another disposition.
For TDCJ, use the state IVSS and TDCJ records channels. For federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator. ICE ODLS covers current ICE detention and certain CBP custody, but silence can mean transfer or removal rather than community release. Texas Replaced Legacy VINELink
The four-digit PIN often described in old Texas VINE instructions belongs to legacy telephone registration. Older calls repeated until the recipient entered that PIN plus the pound key. Current IVSS-Counties registration uses an account, security question, and notification preferences. Do not create a PIN unless the live service specifically asks for one.

Montgomery County Alert Follow-Up
Save the complete notice, including delivery time, person identifier, agency, and event text. Then check the MCSO jail inquiry channel. Ask whether the event was release to the community, transfer, court movement, or handoff to another custodian. A release notice may correctly describe departure from one agency even when another authority immediately takes custody.
Court records supply legal context. Montgomery County has separate Odyssey entrances for county and district matters. Search the route that matches the case and read the latest signed order. A bond entry may come before physical booking-out. A dismissal in one case does not resolve another case. A TDCJ commitment explains transfer rather than community release. Pairing the notice with both jail and court records avoids those errors.
If no public result remains, request the MCSO permanent jail-register entry and booking-out sheet. Texas retention rules preserve the permanent register even though no public IVSS archive was verified. Describe the booking and date range narrowly, ask for release date and time, disposition, and receiving agency, and keep the request confirmation.
TDCJ IVSS Is Separate
Someone transferred from Montgomery County Jail to a TDCJ unit changes systems. Register in TDCJ IVSS for state custody, parole, or mandatory-supervision events. The state portal capture makes that separation visible. Open the TDCJ IVSS service and use state identifiers.
The separate portal prevents a county notification account from being mistaken for TDCJ coverage.

A state notification still needs records confirmation when the exact release date, type, or discharge status matters. The TDCJ public-information process can provide actual release and supervision fields that a transient alert screen may not retain.
Montgomery IVSS Identity Checks
Notification accuracy starts with the match. A partial name is useful for discovery, but a Jail ID, Permanent Booking number, SID, or DOC ID is safer when several people share a name. Compare the agency and displayed identifiers before registering. If the location appears as unknown or undisclosed, do not treat that label as proof the person left custody. The system notes that it can be tied to a pending court matter.
Keep the booking number from the MCSO roster or jail inquiry. It ties the alert to the exact county booking and supports a later records request. A TDCJ number belongs to the state record. An ICE A-number is used in the ICE locator and is not an IVSS substitute. Keeping identifiers separate prevents a county alert from being attached to the wrong custodian.

Montgomery Release Alert Channels
Text, phone, email, and TTY can serve different needs. Choose a channel that can be checked and kept. Current registration lets users state whether phone, text, or TTY notices may arrive during the overnight period shown by the service. Review saved contact details after a phone or email change, and keep confirmation of the registered person and event types.
Save the delivery time, event wording, agency, and identifier before a record changes. Then contact the agency that supplied the event. For Montgomery County Jail, the inquiry line and booking-out record can distinguish community release from a TDCJ, ICE, federal, or other-county transfer. A court docket can explain authority, but it may not show physical departure time.
DHS-VINE is a separate victim and witness notification route within its federal scope. It is not a historical directory of everyone who left Joe Corley or Montgomery Processing Center. For ICE, use ODLS and facility or ERO follow-up. For a federal criminal sentence, BOP records answer departure from BOP custody. County IVSS does not cover either system.
